Hector the Inspector was the name given to the cartoon character used by His Majesty’s Revenue and Customs in the UK to remind people to complete their Tax return. In an act of genius, Sir Alec Guinness provided the voice for the TV and radio advertising campaign. His character in the ‘Lavender Hill Mob’ had similar dress sense.
